dc.description.abstract Background: Physical inactivity is one of the major public health problems and its burden on diabetic patients is not well revealed in many low and middle-income countries. Objective: To assess the prevalence and determinant factors of physical inactivity among adult diabetic patients attending follow up at selected public health centers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Methods: A facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 427 adult diabetic patients attending their follow-up from 1st August 2020 to 30th November 2020 at selected public health centers in Addis Ababa. Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) was used for assessing physical inactivity and factors associated with physical inactivity were used to collect the data through a face-to-face interview. Data were coded and entered into Epi info to be cleaned. Then, exported and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20. Results: The prevalence of physical inactivity among adult diabetic patients in selected public health centers in Addis Ababa revealed was 26.3% of the respondents were physically inactive. Insufficient physical activity was higher among females than in males in this study. The majority of inactive respondents do not have information on physical activity. Conclusion & recommendation: Almost one over four of the study participant were physically inactive and the identified associated factors were age, sex, having a family history of DM and/or other NCD, and information about physical activity. Providing special support for female and older DM patients, counseling DM patients with no family history of DM and/or have no other NCDs to be physically active, and creating a means of dissemination of information regarding physical activity guidelines. .............................................
