vaccine reluctance is growing and impeding efforts to lessen the disease's burden. Because of its
significant rise, vaccination hesitancy is seen as a significant public health issue on a global scale.
In the fight against the recent pandemic, the COVID-19 vaccinations provide fresh hope.
Analyzing vaccine acceptance and its determinants among health care professional, is essential to
ensuring broad immunization.
Objective: - The purpose of the study is to assess acceptance of COVID-19 vaccine and associated
factor among health professionals in selected health centers in Gulele sub city of Addis Ababa
city.
Method: - We conducted a cross sectional study in selected health centers in Gulele sub city, Addis
Ababa; in February 2023. We employed Systematic random sampling method to recruit study
participants. Data were generated using a structured self-administered questionnaire distributed
to professionals participating. The collected data was entered into EPI data and exported in to
SPSS for analysis. The study duration was from august to November, 2022.
Result: - From the 300 health care professional involved in the study, 272(90.7%) are vaccinated
with one, two or three doses for COVID- 19 vaccine. Based on the results from the multivariate
analysis the factors that have statistically significant association with acceptance of the vaccine
were living with family (AOR = 2.709 95%CI = 1.232-12.458), previous COVID – 19 infection
(AOR = 0.103 95%CI = 0.021-0.512), previous vaccination as an adult (AOR = 0.139 95%CI =
0.040-0.490), poor knowledge (AOR= 0.065 95%CI = 0.022-0.193) and negative attitude (AOR=
0.201 95%CI = 0.072-0.562) are significantly associated with acceptance toward COVID – 19
vaccination.
Conclusion: - In this study, the intention of health care workers to accept the COVID-19 vaccine
was high. Living with family, previous COVID–19 infection, previous vaccination as an adult,
