dc.description.abstract | By 2000, Ethiopia’s performance in health outcomes and literacy levels was among the lowest in the world and was poor even among the low-income group of countries. Several decades of war, famine and political instability had taken their toll. Ethiopia had some of the poorest health indicators in the world, including a rudimentary rural health infrastructure, poor health service coverage and some of the highest mortality rates globally. | en_US |
