Background: leprosy is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae, that predominantly affects the skin and peripheral nerves, resulting in neuropathy and associated long-term consequences, including deformities and disabilities. The disease is associated with stigma, especially when deformities are present. |
