Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Having consistent and scientifically leveled nurses’ job satisfaction is one the major problem at ALERT Center HRM performance in particular and at the health care Sector in general. Moreover, it is little known in terms of clearly identifying the factors that associated with job satisfaction of heath work force nurses. Consequently, it pivotal to address the aforementioned problems sooner rather than late since delivering quality and equitable health service have been prioritized agenda by the CENTER and the health sector in general.
The main objective of this study is to assess the level of nurses’ job satisfaction and to identify factors associated with job satisfaction of nurses at ALERT CENTER.
METHODOLOGY: The study uses quantitative study design. The study is performed at ALERT CENTER Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Sampling was taken from 249 Clinical Nurse Professionals and 21 midwife nurses professionals. A self-administered questionnaire adapted to the Ethiopian context from the Job Descriptive Index, the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire and EHRIG staff satisfaction questionnaire issued. After the data is entered in Epi info 3.5 the data was analyzed by SPSS Version 20 for frequency, bivariate regression.
RESULT: The Nurses Job satisfaction level of ALERT CENTER is 55.8% satisfied and 44.2 are dissatisfied.
Using bivariate Regression analysis identified factors like Supervision with; Transfer; Work load and stress and Organizational Fairness are significantly associated with job satisfaction of respondents.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION: The job satisfaction of ALERT CENTER is Low with 55.8% satisfaction level(1).Different factors like: Supervision, Transfer, Work load and stress and Organizational Fairness are significantly associated with job satisfaction of respondents. As a result, it is important to be strategic in addressing and improving the nurse’s satisfaction level in terms of Supervision, Transfer, workload and stress and Organizational Fairness. The board, the community wing and the management of ALERT CENTER are recommended in endorsing certain human resource intervention that considers the incorporation of factors like; Supervision, Transfer, Work load and stress and Organizational Fairness.
